What this trip is like

Visit Lake Retba, also known as Lac Rose - Senegal's famous pink lake located 30km from Dakar.

This half-day tour takes you to see the lake's striking pink color caused by Dunaliella salina algae. You'll take a traditional pirogue boat ride on the pink water, watch local salt harvesters at work, and see the large white salt piles along the shore. Locals use shea butter (Beurre de Karite) to protect their skin from the salty water.

Includes transport, boat ride, and local guide. Best time to visit is November to April when the lake is most pink, between 10am and 3pm.
