Overview

About Etosha National Park

Etosha in northern Namibia is built around an enormous salt pan, so large it can be seen from space. Around its edge are waterholes, and in the dry season they draw elephants, giraffes, zebras, springbok and the lions that hunt them.

Because the land is open and dry, game viewing is about patience at the water: you park, wait and watch the animals come and go. Some camps have floodlit waterholes, where black rhinos often appear after dark.

Etosha is often the last stop on a Namibian road trip after Sossusvlei and the coast.
